Welcome back Sophie
The ‘about us’ page is interesting in that I’m not sure if they play as big a role as they used to, I guess it depends if it is a mum and dad type a scenario versus a large corperate entitiy and on the users themselves.
For example kids these days would not give a crap about a family owned business if it got them their ringtone or funny background etc where as older people might definately look for a more human/personable/trustworthy kind of connection to a website.
As for splash pages I could not agree more, we have had a situation where we could not talk a client out of a splash landing page and even after it went live they still loved it! guess it’s all in the eye of the beholder
Ok enough drunken rambling time to get back to work.

Thanks for your comments Michael. You’re right about the type of site having a bearing on whether certain pages are relevant. The article was for a business magazine so I felt more relevant. Now get back to work.
